The various methods of contact are:-
Snail mail. If you or I know where I am or where I will be.
Carrier pigeon. Same applies plus you might need to relay them. Ever
seen a pigeon handing over the batton?
Shouting. You'll probably go horse. Do you remember Horse out of
Bonanza?
Wiga board. Probably a very good bet.
Telephone. Not bad if you know me but it might get expensive and I'm
not about to put my number here.
